Floyd Medical Center plans to host a Vaccine Day for Educators on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at the P-1 field hospital on the FMC campus. The clinic will be open to Pre-K and K-12 teachers, administrators and staff who meet the guidelines established by Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp. The educators will receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Saturday’s event is in addition to onsite vaccine clnics that are set for March 12th in the Rome City Schools, March 13th in the Polk School District, and March 19th for the Floyd County Schools. A total of 1,064 new cases of coronavirus and just 10 virus-related fatalities were reported across Georgia on Tuesday by the state’s Department of Public Health.
According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 830,114 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 15,647. In Floyd County, there were 9,490 confirmed cases and 166 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 81,521, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,092.
As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Tuesday afternoon, 2,407,851 vaccines have been administered in Georgia to include 1,456,897 first doses and 950,954 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 37,436.
