KEMP TO GIVE COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE THIS AFTERNOON, LATEST UPDATES FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Governor Brian Kemp will give an update on COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Georgia this afternoon, for which he will be joined by the Department of Public Heatlh’s Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey and Georgia Emergency Management/Homeland Security Agency Director Chris Stallings. The 4 pm update will take place at the State Capitol in Atlanta.

A total of 866 new cases of coronavirus and 47 virus-related fatatlities were reported in Georgia on Monday by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 836,344 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 15,918. In Floyd County, there were 9,568 confirmed cases and 167 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 82,047, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,130.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Monday afternoon, 2,740,601 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,705,663 first doses and 1,034,938 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 40,622.
