CORONAVIRUS, VACCINATION UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 1,286 new cases of coronavirus and 57 more virus-related fatalities were reported across Thursday in Georgia by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 839,823 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 16,053. In Floyd County, there were 9,594 confirmed cases and 166 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 82,337, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,140.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard Thursday afternoon, 2,956,040 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,868,419 first doses and 1,087,621 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 43,190.
