CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Only 542 new cases of coronavirus and 26 more virus-related fatalities were reported in Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 843,675 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 16,171. In Floyd County, there were 9,671 confirmed cases and 167 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 82,639, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,153.

There was no update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Monday afternoon. Both the COVID-19 Daily Status Report and the vaccine dashboard may be located at www.dph.georgia.gov.

Polk Medical Center is administering the COVID-19 vaccine to those who are eligible, according to a media release from Floyd Public Relations. The shots are given by appointment only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. Call (770) 749-4125 to make an appointment. Polk Medical is currently providing the Pfizer vaccine. An appointment for a second dose will be made upon reciept of the first dose. To date, PMC has provided over 1,100 vaccines.
