ORDERS NOW BEING TAKEN FOR CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME’S ANNUAL HERB & PLANT SALE; GNTC PLANT SALE TO RETURN IN EARLY APRIL

Orders are now being taken for the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home’s annual Herb and Plant Sale. Online sales began on Sunday and will continue through April 10th at www.chieftainsmuseum.org. Heather Shores, Executive Director, encourages the public to hop online and plan that Spring garden for this year.

Floyd County Master Gardeners have worked with the museum to ensure a great selection of herbs and plants, indicates Shores.

Herbs and plants are locally sourced, adds Shores. Orders will also be taken via telephone at (706) 291-9494.

Pick up is slated for Friday, April 16th from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Saturday, April 17th from 9 am until 1 pm in the Community Building over at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds. Shoppers will pick up their herbs and plants via a drive-thru line.

Proceeds from the Herb and Plant Sale will benefit Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, a National Historic Landmark. The museum has experienced a decrease in visitation amid the coronavirus pandemic. Shores indicates that fundraisers like the Herb and Plant Sale will help make up for a resulting loss in revenue from visitation.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s annual Spring Plant Sale is slated to return this year. It will take place on Tuesday, April 6th from 8:30 am until 6 pm and Wednesday and Thursday, April 7th and 8th from 8:30 am until 4 pm at the greenhouses across from GNTC’s Floyd County campus. Proceeds will benefit the college’s horticulture program.
