Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will offer an opportunity to local backyard cooks to prove that their barbecue is the best around during the ’21 Backyard BBQ Bash, set for May 7th and 8th at Ridge Ferry Park.
Jim Alred, Recreation Services Manager, asserts that this is different from the Roman Roast that was previously held at the park in that the Bash is not open to professionals, only amateurs. Teams of four may cook either Boston Butts, chicken, or both. The winners will receive cash prizes and trophies, while all participants will receive tickets for the Cody Johnson concert that is slated for the evening of Saturday, May 8th, also at Ridge Ferry Park.
The cost to enter the contest is $250. The registration packet is available on the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation website at www.rfpra.com.
Teams and spectators will be asked to observe COVID-19 safety guidelines to include social distancing.
