AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES DIP SLIGHTLY

Georgia’s gas prices declined slightly over the past week. According to AAA, The Auto Club Group, motorists statewide are now paying the average price of $2.71 per gallon of reegular unleaded gasoline. That’s one cent less than a week ago, 13 cents more than last month, and 94 cents more than at this same time last year.

It now costs $40.65 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $3.75 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, says, “Cheaper crude oil prices are putting downward pressure on pump prices for the majority of motorists.”

Georgians might see less expensive gas prices in the coming week, although not enough to indicate a steady trend as yet, adds Waiters.

Sunday’s national average of $2.87 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is one cent more than a week ago, 13 cents more than last month, and 93 cents more than this time last year.
