BRAVES SWEPT IN PHILLY, DELAYED IN DC

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, which allowed the Phillies to sweep the season opening series between rivals in the National League East.

Philadelphia jumped to an early lead on a solo home run from Andrew Knapp off Ian Anderson in the bottom of the second inning. Atlanta tied it up with a solo shot from Travis d’Arnaud off Zach Eflin in the top of the seventh.

The Phillies broke the tie on an RBI single from Alec Bohm that drove Rhys Hoskins to home plate in the bottom of the eighth. Chris Martin was tagged with the loss for giving up that winning run.

The Braves’ outing up in Washington DC against the Nationals that had been scheduled for today has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. Those two teams hope to meet on Tuesday afternoon at Nationals Park. First pitch is set for 4:05 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 1:50 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
