BRAVES DENIED SWEEP OF PHILLIES AMID A CONTROVERSIAL CALL

The Atlanta Braves were handed their first loss at Truist Park for 2021 by the Philadelphia Phillies 7-6 on Sunday night; this denied a sweep for the Braves in their home-opening, three-game weekend series in Atlanta against rivals in the National East.

A controversial call led to what ended up being the game-winning run for the Phillies.

Will Smith was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Jose Alvarado got the win, while Hector Neris got the save for Philadelphia.

Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, and Ronald Acuna, Jr. each homered for the Braves. Rhys Hoskins, Didi Gregorius, and Bryce Harper each went deep for the Phils.

The Braves will welcome the Miami Marlins to Atlanta this evening for game one of a four game series. First pitch is slated for 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.
