GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH FOLLOWS CDC AND FDA GUIDANCE TO PAUSE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINES

The Georgia Department of Public Health is following guidance by the CDC and the FDA to pause the Johnson & Johnson vaccinations in this state until further notice. This follows six reported cases of a rare and severe blood clot occuring in women aged 18-48. The DPH and district health departments are working to offer the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine for those with previously scheduled appointments for the J&J vaccine, according to a media release by the department. More than 124,000 doses of the J&J vaccine have been safely administered here in the Peach State.
