Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful will join with Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation to host an Earth Week Celebration next week.
The slate of activities includes a National Arbor Day Celebration on Tuesday, April 20th at 2:30 pm at Etowah Park. International Paper has donated some trees to that park, says Mary Hardin Thornton, Special Services Manager for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation (and former Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful Director), who invites the public to attend Tuesday’s celebration.
That will be followed on Wednesday, April 21st at noon by the “Get to Know Your Watershed” event at Lock and Dam Park pressented by Brian Roberts, Rome-Floyd Environmental Compliance Manager.
Free recycling audits will be offered at the Rome Floyd Recycling Center on Thursday, April 22nd. And on Friday, April 23rd, the Rome-Floyd ECO Center will be open special hours from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Saturday, April 24th will be Celebrate Trails Day, an observation with TRED and Java Joy. That will feature a nature walk along the GE Trails at Garrard Park led by Darlington School science teacher Owen Kinney.

A trio of clean-up events will be hosted by KRFB this month, such as a Floyd County Employee Cleanup this Friday, a Lindale and Jamestown Community Cleanup this Saturday, and a Rome City Employee Clean-up on Friday, April 30th.
