AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES HELD STEADY DURING THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices held steady over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists across the state paid the average price of $2.70 per gallon of regular unleaded; that’s four cents less than one month ago and $1.03 more than at this same time last year.

It now costs $40.50 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $3.60 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters indicates, “For a second week in a row, Georgia motorists saw minimal or no change at the pumps. We anticipate that demand will continue to grow throughout the month as vaccinations become more readily available, which indicates that gas prices may rise in the coming weeks.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.87 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is one cent more than a week ago, one cent less than last month, and $1.05 more than this time last year.
