BRAVES USE THE LONG BALL TO BEAT CUBS, TAKE SERIES

The Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 13-4 on Sunday night in the finale of a three-game set at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL; it allowed Atlanta to take the weekend series between the teams 2-1.

The Braves jumped to an early lead with four home runs in the top of the first inning to include solo homers from Freddie Freeman and Ehire Adrianza and a couple of two-run bombs by Travis d’Arnaud and Guillermo Heredia. Bryse Wilson got the win for Atlanta in his 2021 debut after giving up three runs (two earned) and seven hits, walking one, and striking out one over five innings of work. Kyle Hendricks took the loss for Chicago.

Ronald Acuna Jr. exited the game during the fourth inning with an abdominal strain. An update on his condition is expected today.

The Braves have today off and will be in New York, NY to open a two-game interleague series versus the Yankees on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 5:20 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
