CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 980 new cases of coronavirus and 23 additional virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Wednesday afternoon by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 871,460 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 17,272. In Floyd County, there were 9,927 confirmed cases and 180 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 85,471, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,252.

As of the most recent update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Wednesday, 5,511,221 vaccines have been administered across the state; 33 percent of all Georgians have had at least a dose of the vaccine, while 21 percent have been fully vaccinated.
