AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES HAVE HELD STEADY OVER THE PAST THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS

Georgia’s gas prices have held steady over the past three consecutive weeks, indicates AAA, The Auto Club Group. Sunday’s state average was $2.70 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That’s three cents less than a month ago and $1.06 more than at this same time last year.

It now costs $40.50 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $3.60 more than what motorists paid in January 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, AAA spokesperson, acknowledges that pump prices have seen little to no movement in Georgia recently. She asserts that, “Continuing market optimism that crude demand may increase more than expected due to increasing vaccine rollouts may help to lift prices this week. If crude prices continue to rise, pump prices will likely follow suit.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.88 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is a cent more than last week, a cent more than last month, and $1.10 more than this time last year.
