CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 752 new cases of coronavirus and seven more virus-related deaths were reported on Sunday by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 875,493 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 17,387. In Floyd County, there were 9,944 confirmed cases and 182 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 85,887, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,257.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Sunday, 5,813,791 vaccines had been administered statewide; 34 percent of Georgians have had at least a dose of the vaccine, and 23 percent have been fully vaccinated.

The DPH announced Friday that it will resume administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, upon recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and the US Food and Drug Administration. Details are forthcoming.
