OZUNA CONTRIBUTES A GRAND SLAM IN ATLANTA BRAVES’ WIN OVER WASHINGTON NATIONALS; ROME BRAVES IMPROVE TO 2-0 ON 2021 SEASON

The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 5-3 on Wednesday night in game two of a three-game set at Nationals Park in Washington DC; it allowed the Braves to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Marcell Ozuna got Atlanta on the board with a grand slam during the top of the third inning. And here’s Ben Ingram with the call, courtesy of the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

That was just a night after pitcher Huascar Ynoa hit a grand slam in Atlanta’s victory over DC on Tuesday.

William Contreras notched his first major league home run off of Erick Fedde in the top of the fourth. Jim Powell has the call.

Max Fried secured the win in his return from the injured list after giving up just one run and four hits, walking one, and striking out six in five innings of work. Will Smith got the save, his sixth of the season.

The only run surrendered by Fried was a solo home run from Yan Gomez in the fourth. Trea Turner had a two-run homer off of Josh Tomlin in the eighth. Fedde was tagged with the loss for the Nationals.

The Braves will wrap up their series in Washington DC (and a six-game road trip) with a match against the Nationals today. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 2:50 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves beat the Winston-Salem Dash by a final score of 8-7 on Wednesday evening up in Winston-Salem, NC, which allowed Rome to take a 2-0 lead in the six-game series bewteen those teams. Game three is set for tonight at 7 pm.
