The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 on Sunday night in the finale of a three-game weekend set at Truist Park, allowing the Braves to take the series among rivals in the NL East by 2-1 (and get back to .500).
Freddie Freeman went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, including a home run off Aaron Nola to lead off the bottom of the third inning.
Dansby Swanson also contributed a two-run shot in the Braves’ four-run first inning.
Huascar Ynoa was credited as the winning pitcher for Atlanta after giving up just one run and four hits, walking one, and striking out six during six innings of work.
A solo shot by Andrew McCutchen off Ynoa in the top of the first accounted for the only run scored by the Phillies. Nola took the loss.
The Braves are off tonight and will return to action on Tuesday night at Truist Park with the first of three interleague outings against the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is set for 6:05 pm.
In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to 4-2 on the ’21 season with a loss to the Winston-Salem Dash by a final of 5-4 in a Mother’s Day outing at Winston-Salem, NC. Rome is off today and will be back in action over in Greensboro, NC on Tuesday with the opener of a six-game series against the Grasshoppers.
