CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 590 new cases of coronavirus and 28 more virus-related fatalities were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 887,979 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 17,750. The number of confirmed cases since the beginning of this pandemic totaled 10,018 in Floyd County, which also had 187 fatalities. Gwinnett County reported the state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 86,879, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,288.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard Wednesday evening, 6,679,175 vaccines have been administered across the state; 36 percent of all Georgians have had at least a dose of the vaccine, while 29 percent have been fully vaccinated.
