AEROBATIC FLIGHT ONCE AGAIN GRACES THE SKIES OVER THE RUSSELL REGIONAL AIRPORT IN ROME AS IAC3 PLAYS HOST TO MARK FULLERTON MEMORIAL BEAR CREEK BASH

Aerobatic flight once again graces the skies above Rome’s Russell Regional Airport as Chapter 3 of the International Aerobatic Club will host their Mark Fullerton Memorial Bear Creek Bash today and Saturday. Participating pilots from all over the Southeast held a practice session on Thursday.

Charlie Sikes, Contest Director, says that it’s been two years since the contest has been held in Rome, due to coronavirus concerns. He’s excited to be back in town.

The competition has undergone a name change; it is now held in honor of the late Mark Fullerton, former Contest Director who died of a stroke a couple of years ago. Sikes asserts that Fullerton was the “patriarch of IAC3”.

Sikes attests that the pilots enjoy coming to Rome and the Russell Regional Airport. He invites Romans to head out to the airport this weekend to watch the aerobatic competition.

The Mark Fullerton Memorial Bear Creek Bash serves as a training ground for the IAC’s national and international competitions. The 2021 US National Aerobatic Championships will take place in September at Salina, KS.
