CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 860 new cases of coronavirus and 17 more virus-related fatalities were reported across Georgia on Thursday by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 888,784 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 17,765. The number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic totaled 10,018 in Floyd County, which has also had 188 deaths. Gwinnett County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 86,932, and Fulton County has had the most deaths with 1,288.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Thursday evening, 6,720,823 vaccines have been administered across the state; 37 percent of all Georgians have had at least a dose of the vaccine, while 29 percent have been fully vaccinated.

The CDC issued new guidelines on Thursday which permits people who have been fully vaccinated to refrain from wearing masks outdoors or indoors.
