ATLANTA BRAVES DENIED SWEEP OF MILWAUKEE BREWERS ON SUNDAY; ROME BRAVES END SEASON-OPENING ROAD TRIP ON A HIGH NOTE

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 10-9 on Sunday afternoon in the finale a three-game set at Miller Park up in Milwaukee, WI; that denied the Braves a sweep of the weekend series.

Huascar Ynoa was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs and nine hits, walking two, and striking out six over four and a third innings.

Highlights of the day included a grand slam off the bat of Freddie Freeman in the Braves’ seven-run seventh inning.

However, those efforts were just not enough for the Braves to overcome the Brewers. Freddy Peralta was credited as the winning pitcher for Milwaukee, while Josh Hader got the save. Daniel Vogelbach drove in three runs for the Brewers. Avisail Garcia had a two run homer in the fifth inning and reached home plate three times.

The Braves will return to Truist Park to open up a seven game homestand this evening with the first of three outings against the NL East-leading New York Mets. The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm. Catch all the action on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves picked up a 4-1 victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Sunday afternoon to finish their six-game series up in Greensboro, NC with three wins and three losses; their season-opening road trip netted seven wins and five losses. Rome is off tonight and will play its home opener on Tuesday night versus Bowling Green; first pitch is slated for 7 pm at State Mutual Stadium.
