HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF COOSA VALLEY EXCEEDS ITS GOAL FOR HAMMER IT HOME EVENT; PROCEEDS TO GO TOWARDS THE NEXT BUILD

The Habitat for Humanity of Coosa Valley got a substantial boost towards its next build with the proceeds from their Hammer It Home for Habitat 5K and Health Walk held May 1st at State Mutual Stadium. Betsy Allgood, Executive Director, enthuses that the event raised $13,000, exceeding the goal by about $3,000. Plans are already in the works for next year’s event.

Two families have been selected for the next build, asserts Allgood, who says that each must pitch in some sweat equity towards their homes in the form of volunteer hours. Families repay their mortgages with no interest; money goes towards the funding of future homes.

The groundbreaking for the next build is anticipated for next fall, according to Allgood, who urges the public to mark their calendars for April 30, 2022 – the date of next year’s Hammer It Home 5K and Health Walk at the home of the Rome Braves.
