CHEIFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME OFFERING THEMED ‘SUMMER FUN KIT’ TO LOCAL YOUTH

(Chietains Museum/Major Ridge Home media release):

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home is offering three themed packets as part of the “Summer Fun Kit” program; the first went on sale Monday.

In an effort to provide families with safe, educational and entertaining activities for the summer, the museum will offer one kit in May, June, and July, each with a different theme. These “Summer Fun Kits,” supply families with fun projects they can do from home while learning about Cherokee history and culture.

The first “Summer Fun Kit” will center on “Cherokee Agriculture” and features all of the supplies and instructions for a variety of activities for one student including a pollinator coloring book designed by Bob Harris, a Native American corn pipe cleaner craft, a butterfly paper plate craft, a cupcake liner tulip craft, and materials to make wildflower seed bombs to grow your own beautiful flowers at home. This first kit comes with a basic craft pack that includes crayons, glue, and scissors that can be used for all of three of the “Summer Fun” kits.

The cost for the May “Summer Fun Kit” with the basic craft pack is $20.00 each plus tax or $35.00 plus tax for two kits. Both the June and July kits will cost $15.00 each plus tax or $25.00 plus tax for two kits. Chieftains Museum members will receive a 10% discount on the total of their purchase.

The “Cherokee Agriculture” kit will be available for pre-sale until Thursday, May 20th and will be available for curbside pick-up at the museum from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, May 22nd. To order your kit, visit the museum store on the Chieftains Museum website at www.chieftainsmuseum.org.

Heather Shores, Executive Director of the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, enthuses that the kits offer family friendly fun both indoors and in the great outdoors.

The two additional activity kits with different themes and contents will be offered for pre-sale the weeks of June 21st and July 12th. Stay tuned to the Chieftains Museum website, Facebook page and Instagram account for additional information on these two activity kits. All proceeds from the “Summer Fun Kit” program will go directly towards the operations and preservation of Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, a National Historic Landmark in our community.
