It’s getting hot out there. Cool down at a state park! Kim Hatcher, the Public Affairs Coordinator for Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites, indicates that many parks offer recreational opportunities on the water to include kayaking and paddleboarding, in addition to swimming beaches. The beach at nearby Red Top Mountain State Park is currently under renovation; it won’t be ready in time for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, but Hatcher encourages all swimmers to take a dip later this summer.
Some state parks have swimming pools and even splash pads for the kids. For more details, visit www.gastateparks.org.
High temperatures are expected to hover around the low-mid 90s throughout this week in Northwest Georgia, according to the National Weather Service.
