NORTHSIDE SWIM CENTER TO OPEN ON MEMORIAL DAY

(Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation media release):

The Northside Swim Center will open its gates to the public on Monday, May 31, Memorial Day. Pool hours are set from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is $5 per person. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Due to a staffing shortage with lifeguards, the pool will only be allowed to hold a capacity of 120 people. We are working on trying to bolster our list of lifeguards but until we have enough trained and certified guards, the pool capacity will remain at that level. Once we have enough guards we will raise the capacity to the normal levels.

The pool is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Swim lessons are taught in the afternoons and are currently open for registration at rfpra.com. The pool doesn’t allow any outside food, beverages or coolers but does have a concession stand.

We’ve been working hard on getting the pool ready to open for the summer,” Todd Wofford RFPRA Director says. “We are hopeful that we will soon have enough lifeguards to allow us to go back to our full capacity. Once that happens, we will let everyone know. But we at least wanted to be able to open the pool so people can enjoy it.”

A quick reminder that the Northside Swim Center is cashless, so pool entry fees are by card only.

The pool is also available for rentals in the evenings, please visit Parks and Recreation offices at 1 Shorter Avenue or call us at 706.291.0766 for more information.
