AS OF JUNE 21ST, APPOINTMENTS WILL NO LONGER BE NEEDED TO VISIT FLOYD COUNTY PUBLIC ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES

As of June 21st, appointments will no longer be needed to visit Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services. Jeff Mitchell, Director, encourages locals to check out the facility at 99 North Avenue in Rome, even if you are not in the market for a new pet just yet.

Those who would like to adopt a shelter pet prior to June 21st should contact PAWS at (706) 236-4537 to make an appointment, adds Mitchell.

This is a time of year when PAWS is usually overrun with animals. Mitchell asserts that this hasn’t been the case so far in 2021; however, that is subject to change.

Mitchell adds that, sadly, many of the pets that were adopted during the early days of the coronavirus outbreak have since been returned. He indicates that potential pet owners should ensure that they are ready for the commitment of having a pet prior to adoption.

Pictures of dogs and cats that are available for adoption are frequently posted on Facebook; search for Public Animal Welfare Services.
