ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE WEEKEND SERIES FROM DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPION LOS ANGELES DODGERS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park, which allowed the Braves to take two out of three from the defending World Series champion Dodgers over the weekend.

Atlanta got on the board first with an RBI double by Abraham Almonte in the bottom of the second inning and increased that lead with an RBI double from Ozzie Albies that scored Freddie Freeman in the third.

Ender Inciarte chipped in an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth and a run-scoring sac fly in the eighth.

Albert Pujols drove in both of LA’s runs on an RBI single in the fourth and a solo home run in the ninth.

Max Fried was credited with the win after giving up just one run and six hits, walking none, and striking out four over six innings. Will Smith nabbed the save, his 11th of the season. Trevor Bauer took the loss.

The Braves are off tonight and will open up a six-game road trip on Tuesday night with the first of three games in Philadelphia against the Phillies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:50 pm.
