ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES OPENER TO NL EAST-LEADING NEW YORK METS

The Atlanta Braves opened a six-game homestand with a loss to the National League East-leading New York Mets 4-3 on Tuesday night in the first match of a three-game set at Truist Park.

The Braves jumped on the board first in the bottom of the fifth inning with a three-run homer by Ozzie Albies.

But the Mets tied the game on a three run homer from James McCann off of Charlie Morton and took the lead on an RBI single from Francisco Lindor off AJ Minter in the top of the seventh.

Minter was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Drew Smith picked up the win and Edwin Diaz got the save for New York.

The Braves have now dropped to fourth place of the NL East, five and a half games behind the division-leading Mets. These rivals will meet again tonight at 7:20 pm. That outing will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.
