(Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation media release):

The countdown is on for the 2021 edition of Redmond’s Patriotic Party in the Park and Fireworks Extravaganza. The event is set for July 4th at Ridge Ferry Park and features live music, vendors and a fireworks show.

Ridge Ferry Park will be closed and cleared at noon on July 4th. At 3 p.m. it will reopen for parking. Parking will be $5 and can only be paid with a card. Several food and refreshment vendors will be in the park. Starting at 7 p.m. live musical acts take to the Coca-Cola Stage, featuring the band Down Time followed by Dalton Dover.

The fireworks show is set to begin at approximately 9:50 p.m. The show should last about 20 minutes.

Also, Parks and Recreation would like to reminder everyone that no pets, guns, open fires, drones or large coolers are allowed in the park. Small, shoulder carry sized coolers are allowed.

Like last year, the show will be shot from the top of Jackson Hill, meaning it will be viewable from most of Rome. People can get great views at Ridge Ferry Park but also along the levee, near Broad Street, along both pedestrian bridges downtown and just about anywhere you can see the large American flag flying above Jackson Hill.

The parking lot of the Rome Civic Center will be closed due to proximity to Jackson Hill. The trails on Jackson Hill will also be closed. Parking information for Downtown Rome can be found at https://downtownromega.us/parking/

When parking, be sure to use public lots or utilize parking near Ridge Ferry Park. Several parking lots near Jackson Hill are reserved for local businesses and their customers. Those lots have signs indicating they will tow cars parked and not utilizing the businesses.

In past years, some motorists stopped on the road or on the side of the road during the fireworks show which causes traffic problems and is a safety issue.

Please refrain from stopping in the road and find a safe location off of the roadway to park and watch the show. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July.
