ATLANTA BRAVES IN MIAMI OVER THE WEEKEND FOR NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST SET VERSUS THE MARLINS

The Atlanta Braves were off on Thursday night and will open their last series before the MLB All-Star break tonight in Miami, Florida against the Marlins. Charlie Morton will be the starting pitcher for Atlanta, while Zach Thompson will head to the mound for Miami. The first pitch between these rivals of the National League East is set for 7:10 pm at LoanDepot Park. That outing will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM. Air time is 5:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

The Braves opened their current six-game road trip with a trio of games up in Pittsburgh versus the Pirates; they were able to avoid being swept with a 14-3 win in the finale. Highlights included a solo home run from Ronald Acuna Jr. in the top of the third inning, his 24th home run of the season.

Abraham Almonte had four RBIs to include a two-run shot during the eighth, and Drew Smyly was the winning pitcher. That victory allowed the Braves to improve to 42-44 on the 2021 season. They are now tied with the Washington Nationals for the third place in the NL East, four and a half games behind the division-leading New York Mets. The Marlins are currently in last place with a 38-48 record.
