ATLANTA BRAVES FALL TO MIAMI MARLINS IN MIAMI IN FINAL GAME BEFORE MLB ALL-STAR BREAK, SANS RONALD ACUNA JR.

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 7-4 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at LoanDepot Park in Miami, FL, which denied the Braves a sweep of their last series before the MLB All-Star break.

Dansby Swanson contributed a pair of solo home runs in the effort, one in the top of the sixth inning and another in the ninth.

Miami was led offensively by Jesus Aguilar with four RBIs to include a three run homer off Ian Anderson in the bottom of the first. Pablo Lopez picked up the win; he emerged as the first major league player to strike out the first nine batters to start a game.

Anderson took the loss for Atlanta after surrendering four earned runs and six hits, walking five, and striking out four in just two and a third innings.

The Braves enter the All-Star break with a record of 44-45 and in third place of the NL East, four games behind the division-leading New York Mets. They will return to Truist Park on Friday night to open a six-game homestand with the first of three games against the Tampa Bay Rays. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has been placed on the 60-day injured list with a torn ACL in his right knee following a season-ending injury in Saturday’s victory over the Marlins. Johan Camargo has been recalled from Triple A Gwinnett.
