Major League Baseball’s 2021 All-Star Game is set for tonight at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
The Atlanta Braves will be represented by first baseman Freddie Freeman in the starting line-up and second baseman Ozzie Albies in the reserves on the National League team. Outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was selected as a starter, but will not play due to a season-ending injury over this past weekend. Even though his torn right ACL will keep him from playing, he still plans to attend the Midsummer Classic.
Ben Ingram, play by play announcer for the Atlanta Braves Radio Network, indicates that he is glad Acuna will be celebrated on baseball’s biggest night of the year – it’s just a shame that this won’t happen at Truist Park in Atlanta as originally planned.
The 91st annual MLB All-Star Game is slated for 7:30 pm tonight. Television coverage will be provided by FOX.
Pete Alonso with the New York Mets won Monday night’s Home Run Derby at Coors Field. It was his second Derby victory; he also won it in 2019.
