TWO FIRST FRIDAY CONCERTS DOWN, TWO MORE LEFT

Two First Friday concerts are on the books, with two more left in 2021. The concert series is hosted by the Rome Downtown Development Authority and is free to the public thanks to the financial support of the downtown Business Improvement District (or BID).

The turnout for the June and July concerts was ‘amazing’, according to Megan Otwell, Public Relations Director for the Rome DDA.

First Friday concerts provide an economic shot in the arm to many downtown businesses, indicates Otwell. All of this year’s concerts are being held on the Town Green next to the Forum River Center.

The next First Friday on Friday, August 6th at 7 pm will feature the music of Electric Avenue, an ’80s cover band. A local duo, Kindred Fire, will perform on Friday, September 3rd.

Otwell urges locals to continue to support the businesses in downtown Rome as many are still in recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
