PUBLIC HEARING SET FOR TONIGHT ON REFURBISHING OF THE ETOWAH SKATE PARK

A public meeting will be held this evening for the purpose of discussing the refurbishment of the Etowah Skate Park. Locals are encouraged to attend the gathering, which will get underway at 6 pm in the Charles Parker Center over at Etowah Park, 1325 Kingston Road.

The skate park, which opened in 1995, is due for repairs and upgrades that will be funded by the 2017 SPLOST, states Mary Hardin Thornton, Special Services Manager for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.

Rome City Commissioner Mark Cochran of Cevian Design Lab has offered to donate a design for the refurbishment, adds Thornton.

The park is approximately 21,000 square feet. The property is owned by the Floyd County Board of Commissioners.

If you are not able to attend tonight’s meeting but still wish to provide input, contact Thornton at (706) 291-0785 or [email protected].
