CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 2,271 new cases of coronavirus and eight more virus-related deaths were reported across Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 912,776 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll currently stands at 18,624. The number of confirmed cases totaled 10,208 here in Floyd County, which has also had a total of 194 deaths. Gwinnett County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 88,687. Fulton County has had the most deaths with 1,369.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Monday, 8,539,916 vaccines have been administered across the state; 44 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 39 percent have been fully vaccinated. Some 35 percent of Floyd County residents have had at least one dose, while 33 percent have been fully vaccinated.
