ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES FINALE AT PHILADELPHIA TO PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a four-game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, which resulted in a 2-2 split in the series among National League East rivals.

Touki Toussaint was charged with the tough-luck loss after givng up just one run – a solo home run to Jean Segura in the fourth inning – in addition to five hits, walking none, and notching a career-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings. Chris Martin surrendered a solo shot to Ronald Torreyes in the eighth to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.

Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola was denied a shutout as Austin Riley clubbed a solo home run in the top of the ninth.

Nola did pick up the win, however. Ranger Suarez was credited with the save for the Phillies.

The Braves are now back in the third place of the NL East with a record of 48 wins and 50 losses. They will be in New York to open a five-game set versus the division-leading Mets today with a double header at Citi Field. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:10 pm.
