ROME-FLOYD RECYCLING CENTER ENJOYING ITS RETURN TO IN-PERSON RECYCLING EVENTS

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center has enjoyed a return to recycling events in person in 2021 after a one-year hiatus due to coronavirus. Michael Skeen, Public Works Director for Floyd County, asserts that the most recent event, at which electronics were gathered, drew about 100 residents. Both electronics and household hazardous waste will be collected at the next event, scheduled for Saturday, September 18th.

The center will begin taking appointments for the September event on the 1st day of that month, adds Skeen, who expects a limit of 480-540 appointments, similar to the May event.

Skeen indicates that about 11 tons of recyclable materials have been gathered during events at the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center so far this year.

And in other news from Floyd County Public Works, Big Texas Valley Road re-opened to thru traffic on Wednesday, a day earlier than had been expected. The road closure was necessary for workers to replace a failed cross drain.
