ATLANTA BRAVES FALL IN SERIES FINALE TO THE NL CENTRAL-LEADING MILWAUKEE BREWERS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park; it allowed the National League Central-leading Brewers to take the series 2-1.

Willy Adames handed the Brewers an early lead with a solo home run off of Charlie Morton in the top of the first inning. Jackie Bradley Jr contributed an RBI groundout which allowed Lorenzo Cain to reach home plate and make it 2-0 in the fifth. The Braves cut that lead in half on an RBI single from Austin Riley that scored Ozzie Albies in the bottom of the sixth inning.

But that’s all she wrote for Atlanta. Charlie Morton was charged with the loss after surrendering two runs and three hits, walking none, and striking out six over six innings of work. Brett Anderson was credited with the win and Josh Hader picked up the save for Milwaukee.

The Braves fell to 52-54 on the season and back in third place of the NL East, four games behind the first place New York Mets. They have tonight off and will return to action on Tuesday night in St. Louis with the opener of a three-game series against the Cardinals. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:15 pm at Busch Stadium. The game will be broadcast locally on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 7 pm.
