CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 6,480 new cases of coronavirus and 21 more virus-related fatalities were reported across Georgia on Tuesday by this state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 942,887 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll currently stands at 18,750. The number of confirmed cases totaled 10,307 here in Floyd County, whch has also had a total of 197 deaths. Gwinnett County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 90,359. Fulton County has had the most deaths with 1,380.

The COVID-19 Daily Status Report for Tuesday reflected over 9,100 newly reported cases (PCR positive and antigen positive combined). As indicated in a DPH media release, that number includes a backlog of cases which had not previously been reported because of a data transfer problem with electronic laboratory reporting (ELR). The backlog dates back to Friday, July 30th.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Tuesday, 8,855,207 vaccines have been administered across the state; 46 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 40 percent have been fully vaccinated.
