GROWING CONCERN AMONG LOCAL LEADERS ABOUT RECENT RISE IN CORONAVIRUS CASES

There is growing concern among local leaders about the recent increase in coronavirus cases.

Rome Mayor Craig McDaniel anticipates that local goverments will have to make some tough decisions in the weeks ahead, particularly as a new school year approaches.

Public health officials would like to see a rise beyond the current 30 percent of Floyd County residents fully vaccinated against the virus. McDaniel does not favor another mask mandate in the City of Rome, although he joins other local leaders in strongly encouraging mask usage.

Rome City Commissioners typically meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month; however, their August gatherings will be held on the 16th and 23rd. Commissioners will attend the Georgia Municipal Association’s annual convention in Savannah from August 6th through 10th.
