ST. MARY’S KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS LABOR DAY BARBECUE TO RETURN IN 2021

The Knights of Columbus from St. Mary’s Catholic Church will resume their Labor Day Barbecue on Monday, September 6th at the Rome Civic Center.

The event will be a little different this year, according to Jim Powell, member of the Knights, who says that all orders should be placed in advance online at www.romebbq.com. Some extra barbecue will be prepared in anticipation of those who do not order in advance.

The Labor Day Barbecue will be offered on a drive-thru basis in 2021; there will be no indoor dining over at the Civic Center. Patrons may order a pound of pulled beef or pork barbecue (which includes four buns) for $10, a quart of Brunswick stew for $10, and/or a quart of baked beans for $7. There will be no plates available. Those who order online will be given a designated pick-up time upon payment.

Funds raised at the event will benefit local charities, according to Kevin Wall, another member of the Knights. Past beneficiaries have included Habitat for Humanity of Coosa Valley, Hospitality House for Women Inc., Free Clinic of Rome, and others.

The Labor Day Barbecue was not held in 2020 due to coronavirus concerns; that marked the first cancellation of the event during its 50-plus year history. Over $250,000 has been raised for local charities since its inception.

Those with questions may call St. Mary’s Catholic Church at (706) 290-9000. All updates will be posted to the Knights of Columbus of Rome, GA page on Facebook.
