AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE SLIGHTLY DURING THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices rose slightly over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists now pay an average price of $2.97 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That is one cent more than a week ago, four cents more than last month, and one dollar more than this time last year.

It now costs $44.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $7.65 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, indicates “Georgia gas prices saw minimal or no change at the pumps across the state. August could prove to be more expensive if crude oil prices increase, driven by market concerns of rising COVID-19 case numbers and how that could negatively affect global demand in the near future.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.18 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is a cent more than last week, four cents more than last month, and $1.01 more than at this time last year.
