ATLANTA BRAVES BEAT WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN SUNDAY OUTING, TAKE WEEKEND SERIES AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 5-4 on Sunday afternoon to wrap up a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. It allowed the Braves to take the series 2-1.

Ozzie Albies and Adam Duvall each had two-run homers off Patrick Corbin. Albies’ home run got the Braves on the board during the bottom of the third inning.

Duvall contributed his two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-1 in favor of Atlanta.

Max Fried was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and seven hits, walking one, and striking out five in six innings. Corbin took the loss for Washington.

The Braves are now in the second place of the NL East, two games back from the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies. They are off today and will return to action on Tuesday night with the first of three games versus the Cincinnati Reds at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. The outing will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.
