CITIZENS INVITED TO ATTEND ROME-FLOYD UNIFIED LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE ‘PLANAPALOOZA’

The City of Rome, Floyd County and consultant, Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative, invite the public to attend the Rome – Floyd Unified Land Development Code Update Planapalooza™ events August 20 ‐ 25. Planapalooza™ will be an opportunity for citizens to work directly with friends, family, neighbors, city staff and officials, and a team of talented planners to build a stronger future for the City of Rome and Floyd County. On the first evening of Planapalooza™ (August 20) the team will hold the Opening Presentation and Interactive Mapping Workshop at 6:00 pm. Citizens will be able to attend the Opening Presentation and participate in the Mapping Workshop in person at the Courtyard Rome Riverwalk ‐ Coosa Ballroom ‐ 320 W 3rd Street SW Rome, GA or online via zoom. Saturday (August 21) and Monday (August 23) of Planapalooza™ will feature topical Focus Meetings where residents can share their hopes and concerns related to transportation, housing, community character, growth, development, conservation, parks and recreation, downtown, and learn how the code can address these. A full schedule of these meetings is on the website. The meetings will be held both in person at the Courtyard Rome Riverwalk ‐ Coosa Ballroom ‐ 320 W 3rd Street SW Rome, GA and online via Zoom. Planapalooza™ organizers understand that everyone has different schedules. For the entirety of the Planapalooza™, the team and participating city staff will be working in a temporary design studio at the Courtyard Rome Riverwalk ‐ Coosa Ballroom ‐ 320 W 3rd Street SW Rome, GA. Any citizen, business owner or official who wishes to join in and provide comments, suggestions, or simply watch the team at work, will be able to stop by at their own convenience between 9 am‐7 pm on August, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 9 am‐noon on August 25 or drop into the open studio Zoom. On the final evening of Planapalooza™, the team will present their findings so far, and begin to discuss how community input has begun to shape the recommendations that will likely be in the updated Unified Development Code. This meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on August 25 at the Rome City Auditorium ‐ 601 Broad St, Rome, GA 30161. 
An interactive website, unifiedrfcode.com, has been developed to provide more information and offer the community with an opportunity to provide feedback throughout the planning process. The website has a number of features including, forums and discussions. A detailed schedule for Planapalooza™ and links to register to participate via Zoom are also available on the website.
