HEALTH INITIATIVE FOR MEN AND WOMEN CANCELLED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS

The annual Health Initiative for Men and Women that was to be hosted by the 100 Black Men of Rome and Northwest Georgia on Saturday, August 21st has been cancelled due to an uptick in coronavirus cases locally.

This decision to cancel was based on the guidance of public health officials, asserts Erin Hernandez, President of the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition, which assists with the event every year.

Hernandez indicates that efforts are currently being made to provide health screenings to the public that would have otherwise been offered at the Health Initiative.

The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Health Initiative for Men and Women is now slated to take place next year, states Hernandez. Last year’s event was also cancelled because of coronavirus concerns.
