ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE GAME ONE OF THREE GAME SET VERSUS CINCINNATI REDS AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Tuesday evening to open a three-game National League set at Truist Park. That was the second straight win for the Braves, who have emerged as the victors in six of their last seven outings.

Cincinnati drew first blood with a two-run homer by Aristides Aquino off of Drew Smyly in the top of the second inning. Atlanta evened the score at 2-2 on a two-run shot from Adam Duvall off of Sonny Gray in the bottom of the fourth.

The Braves took the lead on a bases-loaded walk by Stephen Vogt that scored Austin Riley in the sixth.

Smyly got the win for Atlanta after giving up two runs and two hits, walking two, and striking out seven in six innings of work. Will Smith picked up the save. Heath Hembree took the loss for Cincinnati.

The Braves improved to 58-55 on the season and remain in the second place of the National League East, but now just one game back from the first place Philadelphia Phillies (who lost to the LA Dodgers on Tuesday evening). The Reds are 61-53 and still in second place of the NL Central, seven games back from the first place Milwaukee Brewers. The Braves and the Reds will meet again tonight at 7:20 pm. That outing will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.
