Emma Wells has concluded her second week as Floyd County’s new Director of Solid Waste. The newly created position is intended to provide some relief to Michael Skeen, the county’s Director of Public Works, indicates Wells, the former director of Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful. She asserts that she is tasked with oversight of the county’s six remote trash collection sites, along with the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center.
Wells enthuses that she has learned a lot and made the acquaintance of many people during her first two weeks on the job.
As the Director of Solid Waste, Wells aims to encourage the public to recycle and to improve the quality of Floyd County’s recyclables.
The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, September 18th, for which the appointments will begin to be taken on September 1st. The center is located at 412 Lavender Drive and may be reached by phone at (706) 291-5266.
