NL EAST LEADING ATLANTA BRAVES BLANK MIAMI MARLINS

The National League East-leading Atlanta Braves blanked the Miami Marlins by a final score of 2-0 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game division set at Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida. The Braves have emerged victorious in their last five straight games and in 12 of their last 14 games.

Jorge Soler got the Braves on the board in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single that sent Abraham Almonte to home plate.

Austin Riley added some insurance with a solo home run in the ninth. It was his 26th home run of the year. Again, Ben Ingram has the call.

Chris Martin picked up the win in relief for Atlanta, while Will Smith got the save. Starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa surrendered three hits, walked one, and struck out four over five and a third innings in his return from the injured list. Sandy Alcantara was charged with the loss for Miami.

The Braves improved to 64-56 on this season and now hold a two and a half game lead over the second place Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East (as the Phillies lost on Tuesday night). The Marlins are now in last place of the division at 51-69. The Braves will go for a sweep of the Marlins in the series finale tonight down in Miami. First pitch is slated for 7:10 pm.
