FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INTRODUCES FURRY NEW DEPUTY TO THE PUBLIC

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office introduced its newest deputy to the public last week via Facebook. This nine-week old bloodhound pup was donated by the Jimmy Ryce Center based in Florida, asserts Sheriff Dave Roberson, who adds that this puppy will one day be useful in search and rescue efforts of the Sheriff’s Office.

The puppy will first undergo training before being put to work. He is poised to succeed Snickers, the current K-9 deputy, who Roberson says is ‘getting up in age’.

The Sheriff’s Office has yet to name the pup; suggestions are currently sought from locals. More than a thousand recommendations had been submitted as of Monday morning. View the list and submit your suggestions via the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office page on Facebook.
